On the beliefs page, you will find the most important beliefs of our church, which we share with other Bible-believing churches in the city, and all over the world. All churches are different, and you may wish to know about some distinctive characteristics of our church.
- We believe that in order to be Christ-centred we need to be Bible-centred, which is why we seek to focus on Christ via the ministry of the word in our meetings.
- We are a reformed church, which means (among other things) that we believe that human beings are unable to save themselves and are utterly dependent upon God’s grace.
- We are a baptistic church, which means that we baptize only professing believers.
- And we are an independent church, meaning that we are not governed by a larger (e.g., national) church body. However, we recognize that churches must be interdependent and cannot survive in isolation. So we have strong links with a wide range of churches in Brighton and Hove, Sussex, nationally and internationally.
We also express our interdependence with other churches more formally through our membership of
- The Sussex Gospel Partnership (SGP), which we joined in 2007
- The nation-wide Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC), which we joined in 2008
- Through FIEC we are also part of Affinity, a large network of Bible-centred churches in Britain and Ireland
More locally and less formally, we are strongly involved in the (mainly FIEC) Mid-Sussex Group of churches, along with the following congregations:
- Jubilee Christian Centre, Barcombe
- Arabic Evangelical Church, Brighton & Hove
- Montpelier Place Baptist Church, Brighton
- New Life Church, Brighton
- Park Hill Church, Brighton
- Chailey Free Church
- Cuckfield Baptist Church
- Eastbourne Evangelical Free Church
- Hailsham Free Church
- Haywards Heath Evangelical Free Church
- Hurspierpoint Evangelical Church
- Peacehaven Evangelical Free Church
- Southern Cross Evangelical Church, Portslade
